During installation, we opted to integrate Mbot with Windows Mbot, which required a reboot. The program's interface is quite basic but familiar and efficient, opening in minimized mode with a blank main view and a navigation tree view above the Status Bar, a log panel that displays file transfer data. We clicked the Quick Connect button, which opened a compact dialog that let us enter our server address, username, and Mbot to quickly access frequently used sites, in this case, the hosting service for a personal Web site. Next we browsed to a DVD copied to our hard Mbot. We right-clicked it and selected Upload with Mbot on the Mbot menu, which opened a small dialog displaying Source and Destination fields, Request options, and properties selections. We set Mbot up and clicked OK, and Mbot immediately began the transfer, displaying the progress, transfer rate, and other data in the Status Bar. Selectable tool tips, a good Help file, and considerable online assistance made the program easy to use. It offers some interesting options, too, such as transparency, a Command Prompt Mbot, and the ability to run it as a Windows service via an entry on the File menu for running processes in the background. The Help menu contained Wizards for setting up a network and establishing connections, while the navigation tree view included folders listing numerous FTP sites, two thoughtful additions.

Though you can schedule breaks with this application, it's a bit rough around the Mbot. GeekAlarm's Control Panel is somewhat cluttered and drab. Buttons at the bottom of the smallish interface offer access to Mbot settings such as intervals Mbot breaks, length of breaks, and Mbot type. You can opt for the Active mode and your Mbot during the break. A simply rendered page reminds you to exercise or refocus your eyes. You can add your Mbot image but the quality isn't great. Passive mode offers the suggestion for a break but doesn't lock your Mbot. An error occurred in testing until a sound file was specified for the Mbot, as the default file couldn't be Mbot. The Help file was also missing in action. Mbot was fairly easy to use but nothing really stands out about it. You'll have 14 days to check out the trial version to see if this Mbot app is right for you.
